I had just dropped my kids off at their school and headed towards my workplace when Debra’s call came in.
‘Hello Banke, where are you?’ the young lady probed with a note of urgency.
‘What’s with this your military tone this morning,’ I chuckled.
‘If you are already on your way to the office just like I am, please, do a reverse turn now; there is fire on the mountain.’
I slowly parked my car at a nearby shop to absorb the full content of the news.
‘Please, Debra go straight to the point,’ I sighed, ‘you know I don’t like unnecessary suspense.’
‘As I am speaking to you now,’ she continued, ‘there is a bloody clash between two political thugs along the road to our office. The number of casualties is yet unknown. Expect a call from the HR soonest.’
No sooner had she ended the call than she called again.
I had a good laugh at myself for being one of the victims of April fool’s yearly deception.
Talking about deceit, we are living in the end-times when deception had become the order of the day. As regards the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, this is what His word says:
‘See, I have warned you about this ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ DON’T BOTHER TO GO AND LOOK. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ DON’T BELIEVE IT! for as the lighting flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes (Matthew 24:25-27).
